Learn the basics of natural dyeing with plants you can grow in your own garden!
Fiber Arts Bloomington Studio
611 West 11th St (the old Bender Lumber)
We’ll cover protein fibers (wool & silk), and plant fibers (cotton).
Students will go home with natural dye samples and the knowledge to start experimenting with the plants in and around their own homes.
Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dye on!
Price includes all class materials.

Learn how to get multiple colors from a single natural dye pot!
- review preparing a dye bath
- review traditional pre-mordanting with alum
- learn how to use after-dye mordants to shift color
- learn how to thicken mordants to paint designs that will give you multiple colors from one dye bath!
You will leave the class with a handout describing all processes, samples of each process, and a wearable piece of fiber art handmade by you!
Students must have either attended Introduction to Natural Dyes or have previous experience with natural dyeing.
Instruction at Fiber Arts Bloomington Studio (611 W 11th St) from 10am to 5:30pm with an hour break for lunch (on your own)
Cost includes natural dyes, mordants, and materials.
